AC Shadows Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret sect.
The adventure focuses on "strange trials and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Bonus Features
Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana together with multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
